Since the Covid-19 pandemic, there unfortunately have been many events which were cancelled or postponed. A lot of people have been financially affected during these times, luckily however, there are some who are still hosting free events online.
Below is a guide of 10 free Food & Drink events in June
1. Borough Market
Everyday| 1pm
Borough Market continues to host live cooking demos on their Instagram page. At 1pm every day, a range of popular chefs feature on their live stream. If you happen to miss one of their cooking demo’s, it will be available to view for up to 24 hours after the event.
2. Plant Based Lockdown Cook along Classes
Thursday 11th June| 7pm – 8pm
Thursday 25th June |7pm – 8pm
This free live cooking class will teach you how to cook plant based snacks and meals so you will feel confident to start your own plant based journey in your kitchen.
3. Darina Allen: One Pot Feeds a Family
Friday 12th June | 20:30pm – 21:10pm
Darina Allen is the founder of Ballymaloe Cookery School and is one of Ireland’s most famous cooks and authors. She will be hosting a virtual dinner party, where she will be cooking dishes live, from her cookbook ‘One Pot Feeds All’. Dishes include: Black-Eyed Bean, Pumpkin and Chickpea Stew and Traditional Rice Pudding.
4. Old Skool Virtual Brunch
Saturday 13th June | 12.30pm – 3.30pm (Funky House Special)
This event has already been running for a couple of weeks with great success. Whether you are celebrating or just looking to have some fun on a Saturday, this event brings you fun, games and music from the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s. There are two events running this month including one featuring a funky house special.

5. Australian Wine with Emma Symington
Monday 15th June | 14:00 – 14:30pm
Emma Symington, Master of Wine, will take you through “everything you think you know about Aussie wine but don’t”! A great opportunity to smash a few preconceptions you might have about Australian wines.
6. Food Thinkers with Claire Thompson
Tuesday 16th June | 17.15pm – 6.45pm
Claire Thompson is a qualitative researcher. Her subject of focus normally falls on topics such as food poverty, urban inequalities, welfare reform and regeneration. For this event she will discuss research on food practices in low-income neighbourhoods, to explore how the notion of precarity can be used to frame dietary inequalities and the consequences of the Covid -19 Pandemic.
7. Leading with Confidence by Meat Business Women
Thursday 18th June | 9am – 10am
This online session is designed to provide you with strategies and techniques to support your mental health and wellbeing during the Covid 19 Pandemic. You will discover how to be more confident and how to lead change, whilst working under pressure. Agile leadership skills, inspiring others and building personal mental toughness are also what you will learn.
8. Once upon a tree – Cider Tasting
Friday 19th June| 18:30pm – 19:30pm
Award-winning producer, Once Upon A Tree, hosts a delightful tasting introducing and exploring the world of Cider. Whether you consider yourself a cider drinker or not, this tasting is for the curious foodies and wine drinkers looking for something new, delicious and authentic.
9. Fine Wine with Daniel Carnio
Monday 22nd June 2020 | 14:00 – 14:30pm
This is the chance to learn from an expert!! Daniel Carnio, Italian wine expert and founder and CEO of Oeno Group, shares his expertise on what is fine wine and why people invest in it.
10. Food Talks: How Food Can Save The World?
Tuesday 30th June | 17:00pm – 18:30pm
With climate change becoming an ever increasing subject, this event features the discussion and perspective of using food to tackling the climate crisis. Topics include how we can transform our food systems to tackle the climate, nature, obesity and democracy emergencies.
